<p>The GREATEST basketball player ever in the NBA history gave some tips about how to jump higher and dunk a basketball. From my point of view, not so much tips we can get to use from here. First of all, what he said is true. Most basketball players know how to dunk because they work hard and try to jump all times, either by playing a lot of basketball games or trying to jump. With that being said, I think it comes down to 2 factors: Genetics and Techniques. </p>
<p>With Michael, it&#8217;s alot to do with genetics (not to mention he&#8217;s 6&#8217;6), not even in his strength alone, but also in his mentality toughness about the game. I&#8217;m not saying he didn&#8217;t have to train hard to learn how to dunk a basketball, he worked very hard to get to that level that we all saw. However, when you don&#8217;t have that same genetics and even shorter, then you have to rely on the TECHNIQUES.</p>
<p>I myself definitely didn&#8217;t inherit those Genetics like Michael or many black men do. I&#8217;ve been riding bicycles since I was 10 to school everyday. It&#8217;s not a long distance ride though, maybe like 5 miles &#8230; plus 3 long bridges but I couldn&#8217;t be able to figure out how to dunk a basketball until over a year ago. I&#8217;ve tried lots of time to jump as high as I can but still, the most I can get is a touch of the rim (not holding or hanging). It was only in my dreams that I could someday, somehow I could dunk a basketball in front of the amazing eyes of my friends.</p>
<p>Well &#8230; not long ago I met a guy in the court name Michael Jin, he&#8217;s a 5&#8217;6 Asian guy. We was in a pick up game when he stole the ball, ran down the court and dunk it with ease. The amazing thing is that he kept doing it over and over again. I was stunned. I&#8217;ve always seen black guys do it&#8230;but an Asian guy? I gotta talk to him after the game and find out part of his secrets. He told me he was doing some Plyometrics exercises through a program called Jump Manual. I didn&#8217;t know what he was talking about but kept that in mind.</p>
<p>I went online and check on the information about Plyometrics and how to dunk a basketball with the Jump Manual. I read through all the information about Plyometrics and testimonials as well as reviews about this products. I was a bit skeptical about it and what it can do to improve my jumping ability. However, I did saw Michael Jin dunked with my own eyes so I decided to give it a shot. I have watch this movie over, over, over, and over again and still don&#8217;t get bored. Since this movie, it has always made me think, is it true? Can white men jump and dunk a basketball or just the black men do it? As you can see in the NBA or any Streetball games, most of the black dudes can do all types of dunks and tricks while the white men rarely do it.</p>
<p>When in America, race has been a big issues among Blacks, Whites, Hispanics, or Asians, so let&#8217;s not make this issue about race and let&#8217;s it be about basketball.</p>
<p>As research shows, most black athletes with West African ascendent have the most explosive muscle fiber. For this reason, they can jump higher and run faster than any other East African ascendents. While East African athletes all dominate the long distance running, West African ascendents do the best in the 100 or 200 meters run. So to jump higher in sports, it has something to do with your genetics.</p>
<p>However, when you say White Men Can&#8217;t Jump, is it a completely true statement or just bias opinion base on race and other issues? I played basketball and I&#8217;ve seen lots of white men and jump really high and dunk the basketball. Back in the days you may not see much or maybe none, but in recent years, I&#8217;ve seen many impressive dunks done by a White men and sometimes he doesn&#8217;t have to be tall like Shawn Bradley.</p>
<p>The most recent video I&#8217;ve seen is a dude name Jacob Tucker who is a 5&#8217;10&#8221; guard but can jump really high. He has a vertical of almost 50 inches which is very impressive if you ask me. He can do a 360 with the ball between his leg and all that. Does this prove that White men can or can&#8217;t dunk? I think so.</p>

<p>I think the most obvious problem with dunking a basketball is something you must thrive for not just born with it. Most of the black athletes you saw put countless hours of work and pain in before they can show off their skills. I met my roommate back in college who is black and love to smoke the joint every single day. He can&#8217;t even tough the basket despite he is 6&#8217;3&#8221;. Why? Because he never work out or doing anything accept smoking the buds&#8230;</p>
<p>The problem here is dedication and hard work. No matter the race you are, Blacks, Whites, or Asians, you can train enough to jump high enough and dunk a basketball. I&#8217;ve seen a little Asian guy dunk and I can&#8217;t believe with my own eyes. Anything is possible.</p>
